García Macías: “Holy Week in Valladolid is mystery, beauty and emotion”
The undersecretary of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments and minister of Rotdom, Aurelio García Macias from Valladolid, has recognized the honor that “singing the beauty of the Christian mystery” represents for him after being appointed crier of Holy Week of Valladolid, declared of International Tourist Interest.
García Macias recalled that he has participated for many years, as a spectator in previous proclamations, so this year “it is a novelty” for him to participate as a preacher of the Valladolid Passion Week.
“For many years I have lived, we could say with passion, the beautiful Valladolid Holy Week. And that is what I intend to share with all my countrymen: my own perspective on the liturgical celebrations and devotional processions, on what I have seen and heard, on what is seen externally and what is intuited internally; first as a seminarian, then as a priest and now, also, as a bishop”, stated García Macias, born in Pollós in 1965.
Likewise, García Macías has thanked the archbishop of Valladolid, Luis Argüello, for his appointment as crier and has defined the also president of the Spanish Episcopal Conference as “a true brother” and the mayor of the capital of Valladolid, Jesús Julio Carnero, as a “true friend.”
The undersecretary for Divine Worship has stressed “the importance” of Holy Week in Valladolid “not only because of its international relevance, but because thanks to everyone, faithful and brothers, it helps to relive, with great beauty, the latest events in the life of Jesus Christ”, and has stated: “Holy Week in Valladolid is mystery, beauty and emotion.”
