He forgot his favorite song by Taylor Swift and, thanks to that, he discovered that he had a tumor

The case of Hannah-Ilay lasting, a 24-year-old girl, went viral after telling how to forget the lyrics of her favorite song by Taylor Swift led her to discover that she had a brain tumor. The episode was the trigger to insist on receiving medical attention after months of feeling different and not being heard by health professionals.

What began as a specific memory loss became a tour of different symptoms that included changes in behavior, constant fatigue and headaches. However, the first medical consultations did not give results: the specialists underestimated their symptoms and assured him that they were “normal in young women.”

An unexpected diagnosis after collapse

Everything changed when, in August 2024, Hannah passed out in his workplace. It was only at that time that doctors decided to perform a tomography. The study revealed a cavernoma, a set of non -cancerous abnormal blood vessels, the size of a golf ball in the left frontal lobe of his brain.

That area of the brain is directly related to behavior, language and personality. Therefore, although it is not a malignant tumor, its location prevents it from being surgically removed without risk of affecting essential functions. The young woman also suffered a cerebral hemorrhage, which significantly increases the chances of a similar event in the future again.

In spite of everything, Hannah maintains a reflective attitude about what happened to him. “I went from being a very outgoing and sociable girl to someone completely turned off. There came a point where I did not recognize myself,” he said in an interview with Wales Online.

The forgotten song that ignited the alarms

The track that made her suspect that something was not well was to forget the lyrics of “Haunted (Taylor’s version)”, one of her favorite songs by Taylor Swift. “It was an extremely difficult time. I used to organize movies with my friends, talk non -stop … and suddenly I couldn’t even sing a song I knew by heart,” he explained.

Its shared history on social networks and replicated in British media not only generated shock among swifties, but also focused on a recurring theme: the underestimation of female symptoms in the medical field. Hannah confessed that many doctors ruled out their initial discomfort with explanations such as stress or hormonal changes, which delayed their diagnosis.

Currently, he lives with the risks involved in his condition, but seeks to raise awareness about the importance of insisting when something does not feel good in the body. “I know my body and knew it wasn’t me. If I hadn’t insisted, who knows what would have happened,” he concluded.
