Aurelio García Macías will be the new crier of Holy Week 2025 in Valladolid, as reported by the mayor of the city of Pisuerga, Jesús Julio Carnero, on the morning of this Tuesday, January 21.
After the appointment, the new crier has assured that “welcomes the proposal to proclaim the proclamation of Valladolid Holy Week in this year 2025 with great joy”as he pointed out in his first statements collected by EL ESPAÑOL of Castilla y León.
“As a son of this land, it is a true honor for me to sing the beauty of the Christian mystery that is celebrated in Holy Weekbut also a challenge due to the importance and significance that this event has in our city,” he noted.
Since 2010, the town crier has had his habitual residence in Rome. He has been a diocesan priest of the Archdiocese of Valladolid since 1992, although since 2015 he has carried out his pastoral work in the Vatican.
He added that, throughout his life “he has participated, for many years, as a spectator in previous proclamations, and this year it is a novelty for me to participate as a town crier.”
He has stated that after living “with passion”, the beautiful Valladolid Holy Week, he intends to “share with all his countrymen” his own perspective “on the liturgical celebrations and devotional processions” on what is “seen and heard” and “on what is seen.” externally” and what is “he intuits internally” first as a seminarian, then as a priest and now as a bishop.
