Finally, Billie Eilish and cinema have a close relationship. The successful singer has made some documentaries where she reveals part of her inspiration and creative processes, and has also composed songs for titles as successful as No time to die and Barbie. However, even when it does not plan it, Billie Eilish has become the result of ideas for other titles, such as Dracula. Under the direction of Luc Besson, the new interaction of the vampiric classic has a lot to thank the singer.
A Dracula full of nostalgia
Although the last years have brought us several versions of Dracula, Besson devised (from the beginning) something different. He wanted to enter not only in human blood and victims, but also in that love part that few filmmakers have addressed. We will see a Vladimir who, feeling betrayed by God, decides to surrender to the blood and lead a life of darkness. Everything will change when, centuries later, he meets a woman identical to his late wife.

Logically, the film will have a nostalgic, romantic aura full of emotions. The production design, the changing rooms and even the makeup became something vital to convey the feeling of that man who does not stop thinking about his beloved. But music was also important, and in an interview for Collider (For 2024), Luc Besson recognized how Billie Eilish was part, without knowing it, of the film.
“In filming, and even now, there is music that I have on my phone, I hear and inspire me. It is probably not good for the movie, but a good inspiration: Billie Eilish’s last album, for example. I listen to it non -stop, and it is just the atmosphere that I need for the movie. But will the songs be in the movie? No. It would be strange, ”he said.
During the conversation, Besson said to be a fan of both Eilish and Finmene O’Connell, his brother. The latter is one of the most quoted musical composers and producers today. Collider He suggested the director to call them to know if they would be interested in composing a song or the music of the movie, but he was doubtful.
“I would love that, but they are so big now. I don’t think they answer the call, but I will try. And by the way, that last album … I always love all his works, but the last one is really incredible. ”
Rewriting the rules

In the end, Danny Elfman was chosen composer of the original music. Billie Eilish’s participation and finneas was never confirmedso it is not known if they answered that call, or if Besson really contacted them. Regarding this version of Draculaits director and screenwriter states that it will follow some rules written since the 19th century, but will also add other elements to give it a contemporary version. A version that fits Billie Eilish’s music that inspired him in the creative process.
“Sleep in a coffin, and to kill him, you have to take a hammer and a silver nail, nail them in his heart and cut his head. That is the classic. But in the rest, he I use only what your purpose meets. For example, the book is transformed into bat, walking through the wall or can be a green fog. I don’t want to use it too much because it makes it too fantastic. I try to focus on the love story. In fact, the film is very emotional. ”
