Hytale, the open world game similar to Minecraft and supported by Riot Games, cancels its development and closes Hypixel

Hypixel Studios has announced that he cancels the development of his open world video game with format similar to Minecraft, Hytale, after ten years of work, and that they will begin with the study closing process in the coming months.
Hytale is a video game that began to develop in 2015 after the success of the Minecraft minijuegos server created by Hypixel in 2013. Thus, it is based on a ‘sandbox’ format with an aesthetic inspired by the title of Mojang Studios, combined with role -playing mechanics.
Specifically, Hytale was officially presented in 2018 and, two years later, the developer of Leage of Legends, Riot Games, acquired the study in charge, Hypixel, to boost the video game.
However, Hypixel Studios has now shared that, after years of advancing, adapting and “exploring all the possibilities”, they have decided to end the development of Hytale and begin the process of closing the study in the coming months, because they have not been able to “give life” to this title “in a way that would really meet” the final goal of the game.
“Developing video games is extremely difficult,” said the executive director of Hypixel, Aaron ‘Noxy’ Donaghey, in a statement on his website, where he has shared the announcement referring to the complication of creating original games that “connect with a creative and passionate community.”
He has also assured that Hytale’s cessation is not the result they were looking for or from Hypixel Studios or from Riot Games, but that, as the genre evolved, “the bar continued to rise” and its technical ambitions became more complex, “even after an important restart of the game of the game.”
Within this framework, the team confirmed that Hytale would need “much longer” so that it could achieve the set goals set and reduce the scope, adjust the deadlines and find new approaches to continue moving forward “would have meant compromising what made Hytale special initially.”
Although the closure of the study will take place in the coming months, Donaghey has clarified that Riot Games will compensate the team developers, and will offer them resources to help them find new work options.
However, Hypixel has shared its thanks to users for supporting the project, and stressed that the Hypixel server in Minecraft will remain available, since it is managed independently of Hypixel Studios.
