Hytale, the Riot Games Minecraft, is canceled and all blame the owners of League of Legends, but a former developer says it was the fault of the “mismanagement”

Recently, the industry and the Gamer community received a hard blow, with the confirmation of the closure of Hypixel Studios and the official cancellation of Hytale, ambitious title that once promised to compete face to face with Minecraft, in the field of survival games and creation with Voxel aesthetics. The announcement has generated a wave of reactions in social networks, many of them pointing to Riot Games, owner of the study since 2020, as the great responsible for the shipwreck.
However, a voice from within Hypixel herself has delivered a very different reading from what happened, ensuring that “the community should be angry about the poor management” of the study.
Exculprating Riot Games from the game failure
Devslashnull, former Hypixel infrastructure chief, broke the silence through a series of publications on social networks, which directly holds the new dome of the study for the collapse of the project. In words full of harsh criticism, the developer did not spare in faults saying: “What could go wrong when you hire a new address that believes that the original team is incompetent?”
In addition, he continued his discharge in his publication of X, adding with irony that this decision led to the game to “turn in circles until she dies.”
And in a second publication, Devslashnull offered an unexpected defense to Riot Games, saying that “it was a real pleasure” to work with them, “from people to the leaders” and describing it as a company that “understood the power to empower and give autonomy to people.”
In that sense, it was emphatic to ensure that “all problems were internal, Hytale leadership responsibility.”
A project that, in its early years, generated enormous expectations
Presented to the world in 2018 with a trailer that today exceeds 61 million visualizations, Hytale seemed to have all the ingredients to become a phenomenon. Backed by the mass popularity of Minecraft servers managed by Hypixel, the game promised a mixture between exploration, combat, construction and cooperative adventures, all under a friendly but ambitious aesthetic.
The initial enthusiasm remained for years, especially after the acquisition of the study by Riot Games, which seemed to guarantee resources and stability to bring the project to fruition. But while the years passed and the launch was delayed again and again, the community began to impatient itself in the absence of tangible advances.

And with the closure of Hypixel Studios, the creative nucleus that once dreamed of carrying Hytale to the top is also extinguished. According to Devslashnull, the original team is no longer part of the company: “It is difficult to say, but I doubt,” he replied when asked about a possible resurrection of the project. “The team that had the original vision and values already left or was fired yesterday.”
For now, the future of Hytale’s intellectual property remains uncertain since Riot Games retains the rights, but has not issued public statements about possible future plans.
Steam RPG game raises $ 340,000 in Kickstarter but the project is in indefinite pause and there will be no reimbursements
The illusion of more than five thousand people who opted for an ambitious video game in Kickstarter, has been abruptly interrupted, after the project raised: Radiant Echoes, developed by the independent French study Studio Camelia, has been put in “indefinite pause”.
All this despite having raised more than $ 300,000 through collective financing delivered by those who hope to play it someday and that according to developers, they will not be able to receive the money if the project is canceled.
The news was confirmed by the team itself through an update on the official website of the Kickstarter campaign. “With deep sadness we announced the closure of Studio Camelia,” the statement begins, dated June 21, 2025. The announcement details that the study was legally liquidated on April 28, and that various legal procedures related to the dissolution of the company are still ongoing.
