The recent announcement of the Latin American tour of ‘Shakibecca’, the Venezuelan imitator of Shakira, has unleashed a wave of criticism in social networks and specialized media. Under the name Experience Lmynl World Tour, the self -denominated artist presented dates to appear in Mexico and Central America, emulating in the title the official tour “Women do not cry” of the Colombian interpreter.

However, far from being held as a tribute, the project has been qualified by many as a “disrespect” and an attempt to “hang” from the original star.

In X and Instagram dozens of messages reproach the Shakibecca initiative. “Why don’t Shakira do something against this lady? I don’t understand, I should put a stop that is located”, “one thing is to admire someone and another very different is to get lost completely to imitate it. This no longer seems inspiration, but an alarming lack of identity.”

Shakibecca defends his project as a simple tribute to Shakira, affirming in his publication: “The Shakibecca Show Lmynl World Tour experience is now available for you. This is just beginning.”

Faced with the pressure of public opinion, Rebeca Maielano – real name of Shakibecca – has not officially spoken and, for the time, continues to promote the dates of his next ‘shows’.

It remains to be seen if the controversy will stop the tour or, on the contrary, it will attract even more public public for the media phenomenon.
