Singer Katy Perry and five more women went to space and returned successfully on an 11 -minute space flight that was the first manned mission only by women since 1963.
In addition to the 40 -year -old pop superstar, on board went to the scientist and activist Amanda Nguyen, the television presenter Gayle King, the filmmaker Kerianne Flynn, the Aisha Bowe aerospace engineer and the journalist Lauren Sanchez, who is also the fiance of the billionaire Jeff Bezos.
Bezos is the owner and founder of Blue Origin, the company behind this Monday’s flight. The Mulitmillonario was aboard the same rocket in a similar mission in 2021.
The New Shepard reusable rocket took off from Texas around 8:30 in the morning (local time).
During the moments that happened in space, Katy Perry was heard singing the song What Firm Worldand the crew were able to release their belts and experience zero gravity briefly.
After landing, Perry said he felt “super -consistent with life” and described the experience as a “surrender to the unknown.”
Other crew talked about how quiet the earth is seen from space.
The last exclusively female crew was that of the Soviet cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova, who completed a solo space flight in 1963.

The NS-31 mission is a significant step for the nascent aerospace tourism industry.
It is considered a space flight because it crossed the Karma line, which is 100 kilometers from the earth’s surface, and which is the internationally recognized limit between Earth and space.
The crew could see the earth before descending.
In the words of Dr. Kai-Uwe Schrogl, from the European Space Agency, “these flights are important and exciting, but I think they can also be a source of frustration for space scientists”
“We consider that spatial flights are for the science, knowledge and interests of humanity. Celebrities do it for fun, but receive much more attention than normal astronauts.”
