Jennifer Lopez was sued by a photographer and an agency for alleged copyright violation, after publishing nine photos taken during a party in Los Angeles without permission or accreditation. They demand compensation of 1.35 million dollars.

Los Angeles, California. The singer and actress Jennifer Lopez has been sued for alleged copyright violation after sharing several photographs taken during a party prior to the Golden Globes, held on January 4, 2025 at the Marmont Bar in Los Angeles.

Photographer Edwin Blanco and the Backgrid USA news agency jointly presented a federal lawsuit on Saturday, May 17, claiming that they are co -owners of the images that Lopez published in their Instagram and X accounts (formerly Twitter), without having previously obtained the corresponding permits or accrediting the authors.

In total, the artist shared nine photographs – four in X and five on Instagram – where she is seen wearing a white leather coat, a lingerie dress and a Chanel bag. He accompanied the publications with the phrase: “Weekend glamor.”

The plaintiffs say that the publication of these images was used by Lopez for promotional purposes, for the benefit of the fashion brands that carried that night, without any financial compensation agreement or visible water marks in the photos.

According to the legal documents obtained by means such as Los Angeles Times and Billboard, Blanco and Backgrid request compensation of up to $ 150,000 for each image used, which adds a total of 1.35 million dollars. In addition, they demand that the case be taken to trial with jury.

So far, neither Jennifer Lopez nor his legal team have issued a public statement about the lawsuit.
