Biden’s goal on protected spaces in the United States
The designation of the new protected spaces in California is part of a larger effort by the Biden administration to conserve at least 30 percent of US lands and waters by 2030.
“Our national wonders are the heart and soul of this nation. It is a birthright that we pass from generation to generation,” he expressed in the speech given when presenting the designations.
In his official account on the social network X, the Democratic president highlighted his work regarding protected areas and referred to citizen duty. “Over the last four years, I am proud of having protected more land and water than any president in American history. Our natural treasures are the pride of our country. Preserving them not only protects the livelihoods of those who depend on them, but unites us across the centuries,” he said.
