Katy Perry sang ‘What a Wonderful World’ by Louis Armstrong in the descent to the earth of Blue Origin

Katy Perry sang a version of ‘What a Wonderful World’, by Louis Armstrong, while the Blue Origin rocket descended back to earth after taking a female crew to space on Monday (14.04.25).

The 40 -year -old pop star was accompanied in the rocket by Lauren Sánchez, the fiancee of the founder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, the journalist Gayle King, the Civil Rights activist Amanda Nguyen, Nasa’s former rocket scientist, Aisha Bowe, and the film producer, Kerianne Flynn.

Katy and the other passengers rose 62 miles above the earth as part of the mission and landed healthy and saved on the mainland after the 11 -minute trip.

The mission was the first exclusively feminine space flight in more than 60 years, and the rocket passed by a pink moon, which increased the symbolism of the transcendental day.

The ‘Firework’ singer kissed the ground when the rocket landed safely in western Texas.

Lauren, Bezos’s fiancee, was the first to leave and say: “I am very proud of this crew. The earth seemed so quiet. I was very quiet. I do not think it can be described. I was calm, but also very alive. You look at her and think: ‘We are all together in this. I could not think of anything else. I did not cry so often so often, so I did not expect to excite me so much.”

Katy was interviewed by the journalist Charissa Thompson about how space was and explained why she decided to sing ‘What a Wonderful World’ on the trip back to earth.

Speaking to Charissa on the Blue Origin webcast, Katy said: “I have already sung that song in the past. Obviously, my superior self is directing the ship, because I had no idea that I would sing it in space. It is not about me, it is not about singing my songs. It is a collective energy, of us, to make room for the women of the future, to occupy a place and belong. out there and appreciate it. “

Katy took a Margarita flower to the rocket and, in addition to being a tribute to her daughter Daisy, four years old, with her fiance Orlando Bloom -who saw her partner take off in orbit -revealed that there was also a philosophical reason to take the plant with it.

He said: “Margaritas are common flowers, but they grow in any condition. They grow through cracks and walls. They are resistant, powerful, strong, they are everywhere.”

Katy also promised to write a new song about her experience as an astronaut.

He said: “Of course, one hundred percent.”
