Mexico City (EFE) .- The Mexican president, Claudia Sheinbaum, clarified on Monday that Mexico receives deportees from the United States, with four aircraft and more than 4,000 returned in the first week of the Donald Trump government, and suggested America Latina prioritize dialogue after the crisis in Colombia and Washington.
“With Latin America always our solidarity and our support, we are part of this unique region for its resources, for culture, we are united with many things with Latin America, then, more than recommendations, that I am not to give recommendations, it is to establish a relationship of respect between nations, ”he said.
Mexico received more than 4,000 deported in a week
The president indicated in her morning conference that from “January 20 to 26, 4,094 people have been received, the vast majority of them Mexican and Mexican”, during the first days of the second presidency of Trump, who announced “the largest deportation of The history »of the United States.
The Mexican ruler confirmed that Mexico accepted four deported airplanes in one day, as reported by the US Press Secretary, Karoline Leavitt, although she assured that this is part of old agreements that persist since the expressance of Andrés Manuel López Obrador (2018-2024) .
He also said that “until now there has been a substantive increase” of deportations with Trump because, “per week, it is a number that the country has had on other occasions.”
«Neither Mexico nor the United States are going anywhere. We are obliged to have a good relationship, always in the defense of our sovereignty and respect for Mexicans and always seeking coordination, mutual respect and dialogue between our nations, ”he argued.
Celebrate the agreement between the US and Colombia

Sheinbaum explained that “for anyone they are good or rates (tariffs) or other mechanisms” after the crisis caused by Petro’s decision not to allow the entry of two aircraft with deportees from the United States while those people do not receive a “dignified” treatment .
This led Trump to order 25 % tariffs to all Colombian products and advance that in a week “they would rise to 50 %”, in addition to other sanctions of visa, trip and migration, to which the Colombian president had responded with measures reciprocal commercials.
Mexico prioritizes the defense of those deported by Trump
The Mexican ruler did not clarify whether he will attend the emergency meeting convened for Thursday by the president of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, President Pro Tempore of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), whose leadership assumes Petro in March.
He argued that his priority is to defend the Mexican population in the United States and reintegrate it with ‘Mexico hugs you’, a plan that includes employment, social programs for deportees and near a dozen reception centers in border states.
On the deportees who arrive in Mexico from other countries, he said that there is “prior coordination” with other governments, although he did not clarify how.
