Minecraft Creepypastas have their origin in a disturbing official patch that led to players’ panic – Minecraft

In 2010, just a year after the launch of Minecraft, its community also saw the arrival of its first and most iconic urban legend. A blurred screenshot of a figure among the fog was not only the first “proof” that many needed to give herobrine name, but gave wings to the community in an era in which the Creepypasta were dominating the Internet.
Although this capture is the stone of Rosetta around which the rest of the malignant entities and mysteries that have plagued Minecraft since then, the obsession of part of the community with this has an even previous origin, with debates in forums of strange events, and some stories that already referred to “bright eyes”, the element that would end up being defining the Bigfoot par excellence of the game.
In fact, the guilt of all this is part of its own creator. In these first measures before the game became a megaexite, Notch was quite active in the community. In forums the players gave feedback of all kinds, to propose new mechanics to tell experiences in which some already let the imagination more of the account. It was what gave rise to the bright red eyes of the spiders, which gave them a more threatening appearance.
The darkness of the caves became very disturbing
On July 7, 2010 Notch wanted to play with his community more than the account. The last update, nicknamed V1.0.3, introduced sound effects for exploration in the caves for the first time. From strange squeak to what seemed roared animals, some of these were so disturbing that it was undeniable that the creator wanted to bring his sandbox closer to a terror title. Suddenly, the community was filled with reports of scared players with the mere idea of entering the caves, without knowing what they could find.

This gave rise to mysterious videos like this that put the community to compare pixels with strange silhouettes in the dark. But It was Copeland the first streamer who took the medal to put the hair to the communitycovering in one of its direct the first live reaction when finding Herobrine in front, an avatar identical to that of the player but with the bright white eyes that watched him motionless.
Seeing that the thing was going from the hands, Notch himself was forced to clarify that Herobrine was a myth, and others ended up unseeing Copeland’s live as false. Far from dissuading the community to continue promoting these types of stories as true, streams such as that following many other alleged sightings, and began a legend that continues to analyze until today, with findings in recent years as the seed of the world of origin of that first photo.
