The authorities are alerting those who attended the Shakira concert on May 15 at the Metlife Stadium in New Jersey about possible exposure to measles.
The New Jersey Health Department announced Tuesday (May 20) that a person infected with the disease attended the show. The department warned that any person present at the stadium located in East Rutherford between 7:30 pm (east time) of May 15 and the 1 am of May 16 could have been exposed to the highly contagious virus.
“The New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) is alerting residents about possible exhibitions related to a newly identified case of measles in a non -resident of New Jersey who attended a concert in the state while it was infected,” says the statement published on the NJDOH website. “Potentially exposed people, if infected, could develop symptoms until June 6, 2025. Until the moment of this publication, on May 20, no additional cases related in New Jersey have been identified.”
That Thursday was the first of his two consecutive shows in the Metlife – which has a capacity of 50,000 people for concerts – where Ozuna was the special guest. Shakira returned to the stadium for a second night with Pitbull, Wyclef Jean and Rauw Alejandro as guests.
After making history in Latin America by breaking global box office records in March, Shakira began a tour of North America last week that also includes next stops in Chicago, Boston, Washington, DC, Miami, San Diego, Los Angeles and other cities, before concluding in San Francisco on June 30. Then he will return to Latin America to offer concerts in Mexico and Peru.
