A halo of nostalgia wraps Jeanette’s success of the 80s, “the boy with sad eyes,” which has transcended generations. Recently, Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco summoned The Marías for a reimagination of the ballad, titled “Sad Eyes”, which is part of the couple’s collaborative album I SAID I LOVE YOURST.

I am very proud of this song, ”says Gomez to Billboard On the bilingual issue promoted by the velvety and relaxing voice of Gomez, along with the ethereal voice of María Zardoya (of The Marías). “Benny and I went to see The Marías in concert last summer. I was hypnotized with them and knew I wanted to have them in our album.”

Although the original theme – written by the legendary Spanish composer Manuel Alejandro – did not enter the Charts“Sad eyes” managed to give Gomez his fifth top 10 on the Hot Latin Songs list of Billboardwhere he currently occupies position No. 5 (list dated April 26).

“‘The boy with sad eyes’ for me is one of those songs that cross generations and that unites people regardless of their age,” adds Gomez. “You know her as an adult or something that your mother or grandmother listened, and evokes nostalgic memories. I loved seeing all the Posts about the song and the feeling that reminds people. I may have escaped some tear. I am very proud of this song. ”
