Selena Gomez will receive the Women of the Year award at the Billboard Latin Women in Music 2025, announced Billboard and Telemundo Wednesday (April 16). The two -hour special, which will take place in Miami, will be broadcast on April 24 exclusively by Telemundo.
The woman’s recognition of the year is granted to a female artist who has demonstrated exceptional success, leadership and cultural influence in the music industry and outside it. In the previous editions of Latin women in music, those awarded this award were Shakira and Karol G.
Gomez, a world power, has had a fruitful career as an actress and singer. On the lists Billboardthe 32 -year -old artist has had a presence in several genres, with a total of 42 entries in the Billboard Hot 100, including her first success No. 1, “Lose You To Love Me” (2019). In Hot Latin Songs, “Taki Taki” by DJ Snake, in which he collaborated alongside Ozuna and Cardi B, debuted in No. 1 in October 2018, reigning for 13 weeks. Since then, he has placed three other successes in the Top 10 of the multimetric list, including “Dance with me”, his collaboration with Rauw Alejandro, which reached No. 4 in 2021 and led the Latin Airplay list for a week.
The Mexican descent artist born in Texas further expanded her reach in Latin music with her first project in Spanish, Revelation. The EP, published four years ago, debuted in No. 1 of the Chart Top Latin Albums, making history as a female artist’s first album to get it from The gold of Shakira. He also earned a Grammy nomination for the best Latin pop album. Recently, Gomez entered the Top 5 of Hot Latin Songs thanks to “sad eyes” with Benny Blanco and The Marías. The song, a reimagination of the 80’s classic I SAID I LOVE YOURST.
Beyond her musical career, Gomez – also awarded actress, producer and businesswoman – has become an outstanding voice in matters of mental health and social justice issues that affect infrarepresented communities. She was a woman of the year at Billboard Women in Music 2017.
Selena Gomez joins the previously announced tribute group, including Anitta (Vanguardist Award), Belinda (Evolution Award), Celia Cruz (Legend Award), Chiquis (Impact Award), Ha*Ash (Unbreakable Prize), Natti Natasha (unstoppable artist Award), and Olga Tañón (Musical Trajectory Award).
