The Shakira concert scheduled as part of the welcome event to the Worldpride in Washington, DC, has been canceled on Friday (May 30), one day after its show was canceled in Fenway Park of Boston.

The news was shared on the social networks of Nationals Park, the Washington Nationals of the Major Leagues.

“Due to the complications of the previous show in Boston, the complete production of the Shakira tour cannot be transported to Washington, DC in time for its programmed presentation in Nationals Park on Saturday, May 31,” says the stadium statement. “As a result, the DC show has been canceled. Despite all efforts to make it possible, you cannot move on as planned.”

The statement indicates that refunds will be “automatically issued for purchases made through Ticketmaster and Nationals.com”, while those who bought tickets through third party resellers must contact directly to the point of purchase.

In an initial statement shared by Nationals Park networks, Shakira expressed his sadness for cancellation: “Due to circumstances outside my control, I am sad and with my heart broken because I can not be in Washington, DC with you tomorrow. I hope to return to DC as soon as possible. Meanwhile, they know that I am eternally grateful for your unconditional support.” However, this statement has been eliminated from the Nationals Park accounts and does not appear in the artist’s official channels.

The Shakira show scheduled for Thursday night at the Boston Fenway Park was canceled only a few hours before its start “due to unforeseen circumstances,” the stadium announced on its social networks. Later, Live Nation told Billboard In a statement: “During a routine review prior to the show, structural elements were identified that did not meet the standards, so the shows were canceled. The entire team is safe.”

Despite the cancellation of the welcome concert to the Worldpride, the official Worldpride DC website ensures that all other scheduled events will continue as planned. Find the complete program here.

The next stop of the world tour of Shakira, titled Women no longer cry World Tour, is scheduled for Monday at the State Arena in Atlanta.
