Mystery over dead Hispanic man shot in luxurious apartment in Queens, New York

Three months after Colombian Carlos Buritica was found dead in his apartment in Queens (NYC), the forensic examination determined that he was the victim of a homicide.
Buritica, 45, was found on the bedroom floor of his luxury apartment on 110th St. near 15th Ave. in College Point on October 20, 2024, police said.
The Hispanic man was known for walking his French bulldog Yoda around the neighborhood and had moved into the building about a year before his death, neighbors said.
“Our dogs played together and he was a good person,” she told Daily News a resident who did not want to give her name. “We were very, very shocked (by his death). We thought that This building was very quiet. “You can’t hear the neighbors at all.”
At first it was thought he had died from a drug overdose, but they quickly realized he had been shot, police sources said. However, it wasn’t until this week that the case was officially declared a homicide.
In late October the New York Police Department posted posters in the neighborhood about Buritica’s death, offering a $3,500 reward for any information. Since then the mystery remains unsolved.
