Oprah surprises Beyoncé’s mother, Tina

New York (AP) .— The most recent book selected for the Oprah Winfrey reading club is that of the memoirs of a personal friend and heroine, Tina Knowles, Beyoncé’s mother.

Winfrey announced the “Matriarch (Matriarch)” selection by Knowles, published this week. Its respective interview, recorded in a Chicago cafeteria, can be seen on the Winfrey YouTube channel.

Oprah said: “Some of you could meet Tina Knowles as the mother of a superstar – as Beyoncé – but she is also a highly successful businesswoman, fashion designer, philanthropic and now author of this fascinating book of memories about her trip to become the global figure that is today.”

“We learn how the strength and wisdom of the women who preceded her fed the passion of Tina to achieve her goals and gave her the ability to raise their own daughters to become the incredible women who are.”

Winfrey likes to surprise the authors who choose for his reading club when he gives them the news, sometimes even appearing in a conversation in Zoom.

Knowles pointed out in a statement that they had been told to be called a printing press, when it was actually Oprah Winfrey.

“When I heard his voice, I cried!” Knowles said.

“I have such a rich story with Oprah. Writing a book about your life is somewhat scary. It’s almost like having a baby. It is so personal and sacred to you that you want people to love it and never say anything bad about it. Obtaining the Oprah approval seal, and knowing that he read it and loved it, made everything good. Come on, it’s Oprah!”
