Registration for secondary schools in Argentina is already open

Globant, a digitally native company focused on reinventing business through innovative technological solutions, announces the new edition of the “Minecraft Intercollegial Tournament”, an educational and creative initiative aimed at students from 12 to 15 years that proposes to recreate cities, Formula 1 circuits and cultural challenges through the popular Minecraft video game. The competition will take place in Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Peru, and the registration for secondary schools in our country is already open.

This challenge is part of The Inspire Garage program, the Globant educational platform that promotes Steam vocations – technology, engineering, art and mathematics – through recreational, collaborative and inclusive experiences.

Each institution may present one or more teams formed by up to 5 students, who must be between 12 and 15 years old, and have a tutor of legal age, who can be a teacher or adult designated by the school. Secondary schools of the following provinces and cities can be applied: CABA, Buenos Aires, Tandil, Tucumán and Córdoba.

What is competition like?

Each school will have a group of students that will compete first in the local tournament. The winners of each city will access the international phase.

In the first instance, the equipment must accurately recreate a formula 1 circuit of a city assigned by raffle. In addition to the layout, the route must incorporate trivies with questions about iconic characters and aspects of the general culture of the place. This stage will be between schools in the same city.

They will advance to the international tournament who have obtained first place in each of the cities in which the tournament is held. This new instance raises a different challenge: to design from scratch a street track inspired by the royal streets of its locality. In this phase, the approach is extended with a sustainable perspective, which will require incorporating ecological elements and trivies linked to local cultural referents.

Both stages – local and international – will have a construction phase, with three virtual meetings with mentors, and an exhibition phase, where they will present their projects before a jury in the Globant offices.

Awards

In the first phase, the prominent groups will receive a gamer kit for each member, with headphones, keyboard, mousepad and mouse.

In the international instance, the recognition will consist of an annual Motor Construct 3 license for each participant, in addition to a Masterclass on video game development issued by an expert from Globant.

All students and guardians who are part of the initiative will obtain Certificates of Globant participation.

The call is open and free. Interested schools may register until July 25 and consult the bases and conditions in the following Link
