Sometimes love takes you to the altar, sometimes, to court. And others, to a conference in Cannes where your husband jokes on lawyers while everyone wants to hear whether Taylor Swift was in the set of ‘breaking the circle’, the most controversial film last year. This is the life of Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively: elegant, very chaotic and with one foot in the judicial drama.
And although many would have opted for a discreet ‘no comments’, Ryan Reynolds, as usual, chose the path of sarcasm. Because if your wife is in a multimillion -dollar legal battle with a distribution partner, and your name appears in a 400 million dollars contrademandWhat better than to make a joke in the air?
Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, Affanta Millionaire
It all started with a script and ended as an episode of ‘The Law & Order: Celebrities Unit’. In December 2024, Blake Lively accused Justin Baldoni of sexual harassment in the set of ‘breaking the circle’, a film that he directed and starred. In response, Baldoni shot back with a counter -mail, arguing a defamation and professional sabotage.

In the most recent chapter of this drama, and as part of the case, Baldoni’s legal team requested access to private messages between Blake Lively and Taylor Swift. The Court accepted it, and Judge Lewis Liman (who carries the expensive case) ruled that the messages could be fundamental to determine whether or not there was reprisals.

Lively tried to stop access with a protection order, but the attempt was in vain. And although the direct citation to Taylor Swift withdrew after his team delivered certain documents, the media damage was already done.
Ryan Reynolds joked with the case of his wife and Baldoni?
Yes and in the Deadpool style. During the Cannes Lions International Creativity Festival, Ryan Reynolds participated in a Stagwell’s Sport Beach panel to promote his football team, the Wrexham AFC. Everything seemed calm, until he offered a bottle of water to someone from the public and released: “I’m not going to throw it. I have been close to many lawyers. You can come to pick it up.”
A phrase as casual and surgically designed to put your finger on the sore with a smile. The joke comes just after the judge allowed access to messages with Taylor, at a time where many would think it is better to remain silent. Only the algorithm (and its publicists) know if this was brilliant or reckless.

Not only those directly involved have been scraped. The expansive wave of the scandal affected Marvel Studios, which was summoned to deliver all the documentation related to Nicepool, one of the characters of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’. The problem is that it is suspected that Nicepool is a direct and uncommon parody of Justin Baldoni. It is worth mentioning that Marvel was already des
And of course, there is Taylor Swift. Although his team has made it clear that he never stepped on the set, he did not participate in creative decisions or knew the final cut until weeks after its premiere, it remains linked to the case as if it were executive producer of the scandal. This is fame, or as Taylor would say: You Belong With Me (In the judicial file).

What follows for this legal conflict?
The soap opera is far from finishing. The judge dismissed Baldoni’s contrademand against Blake and Ryan, but gave even the June 23 to present a modified version. So we are likely to see names like Marvel Studios and Taylor Swift again in more judicial documents.
For now, the relationship between Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively remains firm, although surrounded by controversies, sarcasm, memes and analysis of several 15 -minute videos in Tiktok. Meanwhile, Baldoni will have to decide if he wants to move forward with the lawsuit or terminate the case that turned a romantic drama into a legal thriller with unexpected cameos.
