Scooter Braun presses to resort masters to Taylor Swift

A new battle for the musical rights of Taylor Swift is coming. According to the Page Six media, the masters of the singer’s first six albums have been on sale again, and a possible millionaire negotiation is ongoing.
This situation reopens a controversial chapter in Swift’s career, who has openly fought for the control of its original musical catalog.
The report indicates that Scooter Braun, an entrepreneur and former owner of the Masters, would be pressing Shamrock Capital – company that was bought in 2020 – so that it is reluctant to Swift itself.
The figure that is handled for this possible transaction is astronomical: between 600 million and 1,000 million dollars, which underlines the commercial and symbolic value of these recordings.
Taylor Swift, who has been re -recording his albums under the “Taylor’s version” seal in response to the loss of control over his original works, could be financially benefited if he manages to recover the masters.
According to Page Six, the repurchase would allow its income to “increase exponentially”, since the launch of the new versions also promotes the consumption of the originals.
This phenomenon, in which both the versions re -recorded and the originals gain relevance simultaneously, have been evident with each new launch of “Taylor’s version.”
Albunes such as Red (Taylor’s version) and 1989 (Taylor’s version) have not only dominated the lists, but have also revived interest in previous versions, despite Swift’s boycott towards them.
Closure to the conflict
Braun’s interest in facilitating this sale suggests a possible intention to definitively close this conflict that has been media and emotional for fans and the artist.
However, it is not clear if Shamrock is willing to yield the rights, given the growing value of the catalog in the global musical market.
If the operation was completed, it would be a historical turn in the industry, not only for the record figure, but because it would mark the return of artistic control to one of the most influential figures of current pop.
For Taylor Swift, it could mean the total claim of his work and a definitive closure to a conflictive stage of his career.
