Selena Gomez will be named ‘Woman of the Year’ in Billboard Latin Women in Music

The actress, singer and businesswoman Selena Gomez will receive recognition as a woman of the year at the Billboard Latin Women in Music 2025. The information was confirmed by Billboard and the Telemundo chain, which has the transmission rights of the event.
According to Billboard, this recognition “is granted to a female artist who has demonstrated exceptional success, leadership and cultural influence in the music industry and outside it.” This award was awarded in the past to the Colombian Karol G and Shakira.
Selena Gomez has become one of the most important figures in the audiovisual industry. He was recently in the cast of ‘Emilia Pérez’, the multinominated French film. The actress has stood out not only for her work in front of the cameras but also for her role as a producer of projects such as ‘Only Murders in the Building’, the successful HBO series.
Billboard recognizes her for her musical career, which she started as a Disney children’s star and then made her way in the industry. In a statement, Billboard says Gomez “has managed to embrace its Latin roots.”
“With a career that has transcended genres, languages and formats, Selena Gomez has left an indelible mark on pop music and has managed to embrace its Latin roots through projects that celebrate their inheritance and connect with new audiences,” said Billboard’s statement when making the announcement.
Although its beginnings in the industry was in Disney, starring in the series ‘Los Sorceros de Wverly Place’, Selena Gomez made its way in the Latin American market with songs and albums in Spanish.
Selena Gomez debuted in the Latin market in 2018 with ‘Taki Taki’, a collaboration with DJ Snake, Ozuna and Cardi B that debuted in the number one of the Hot Latin Song Songs of Billboard, a position he maintained for 13 weeks. In 2021 he released ‘Dance with me’ next to Rauw Alejandro.
The artist launched her EP revelation in 2021 made completely in Spanish. This album earned a Grammy nomination for the best Latin pop album. This album also debuted in the number one of the Top Latin Albums list, something that did not happen with a female artist from ‘El Dorado’ by Shakira.
Recently, Selena Gomez premiered the collaborative album ‘I Said I Love You First’, made with producer Benny Blanco, who is her fiance. This album includes the theme ‘Sad Eyes’ with The Marías – a reinvention of the classic ‘The boy of sad eyes’ by Jeanette.
The Billboard Latin Women in Music 2025 and will be held in Miami, will be broadcast on April 24 exclusively by Telemundo.
