Miley Cyrus has recently revealed that Reinke’s edema, a benign condition that affects vocal cords and contributes to its distinctive hoarse and serious voice.

This condition implies the accumulation of fluid in the Reinke space, a gelatinous layer of the vocal strings, which causes inflammation and alters normal vibration during speech or song.

In addition to Reinke’s edema, Miley Cyrus has a large polyp on vocal cords. Although these conditions have granted a unique voice, they have also hindered their live presentations.

In an interview with Zane Lowe, he compared singing with these conditions with “running a marathon with weights on his ankles.”

Due to these health problems, he has decided not to perform world tours, prioritizing their physical and emotional well -being.

Instead of great concerts, he plans to share his music through more intimate experiences and film projections, such as his next visual album Subject Beautifulwhich will premiere on May 30.

What is Reinke’s edema?
