The Colombian singer Shakira spoke, through an interview with the BBC, about protests and arrests to migrants that happen in the United States.

He interpreted the eyes thus reflected on his origins as a Colombian immigrant in the United States and the current situation of those who are in the same situation in which she was. He recalled when he first arrived at Miami with only 19 years.

“I was only 19 when I moved to the United States, like many other Colombian immigrants who arrive in this country, in search of a better future,” said Shakira.

“I remember that I was surrounded by Spanish-English dictionaries and synonyms, because at that time I didn’t have Google or Chatgpt to help me. So everything was very precarious,” added the businesswoman.

“Many other large and powerful nations in the world have been forged with the hard work of immigrants. I hope this country, like many other countries that have problems with immigration, find a human solution to address those problems,” he said.

Shakira concluded with a message for those who face that delicate situation in the United States: “Now, more than ever, we have to remain united. Now, more than ever, we have to raise our voice and make it very clear that a country can change its immigration policies, but the treatment of all people must always be human.”

In addition, Shakira announced the cancellation of his concert in Los Angeles, scheduled for June 20 at the Sofi Stadium of Inglewood, due to the protests that are carried out against the migratory raids, that presentation was scheduled for August 4.

In the last Grammy awards, Shakira dedicated his recognition to the best Latin pop album to “all my immigrant brothers and sisters in this country.” In her speech, the artist added: “They are loved, they are worth it and I will always fight with you.”
