Shakira in a journalistic interview

In full rise of their world tour ‘Women no longer cry’, the Colombian star Shakira talked about personal challenges, his artistic perfectionism and the experience of living as an immigrant in the United States, a country that he arrived long ago, with only 19 years in search of an international dream, as read in the portal “El Cooperante”.

In an interview with the BBC from the Hard Rock Stadium backstage in Miami, one of the key stops on a tour that has already raised more than 150 million dollars, the Colombian artist was grateful for the public’s response.

More than two million people have attended their 64 concerts in America.

Every detail

“This tour has been an incredible reward after more than a year of thorough work,” he said. According to members of his team, Shakira personally supervises every detail of the show, from lighting to the costumes.

Her perfection obsession has led her to offer two and a half -hour shows with more than ten changes of clothing, high physical impact routines and a repertoire that celebrates her greatest successes.

The tour, inspired by her most recent album, emerged from a turbulent period in the personal life of the artist: the separation of the soccer player Gerard Piqué, health problems of her father and a media judicial process due to fiscal fraud in Spain.

Even so, Shakira turned that stage into creative impulse, returning to the Pop Culture Center with songs such as “I congratulate you”, “TQG” and the explosive “BZRP Music Sessions”, Vol. 53, addressed to her ex -partner.

“A fall is not the end …”

“What I learned is that a fall is not the end, but the beginning of an even better path,” he said in one of his concerts.

During the interview, Shakira remembered his beginnings in the United States, when he learned English in a self -taught way, with dictionaries and poems by Leonard Cohen and Walt Whitman.

Although he was then a young artist in search of opportunities, he says that many immigrants still face similar difficulties.

«Being immigrant today in the United States means living with constant fear. It’s painful, ”he said. “Now, more than ever, we must raise our voice and remember that the treatment of people must always be human.”

The most emotional moment in his concerts comes when he interprets “Acrostic”theme dedicated to her children, Milan and Sasha, who accompany her virtually from stage screens. «Seeing them there melt my heart. They are my engine and the reason I am alive, ”he confessed.

At 47, Shakira continues to set a guideline in the music industry, and demonstrating that resilience, discipline and authenticity can convert pain and inconveniences in art (RG).
