Shakira also shared his vision of how the environment for immigrants in the US has changed, especially after hate speeches and restrictive policies that have gained strength in recent years.
“Currently immigrant in the United States means living with constant fear,” he said. “And it is painful to see it.” The Colombian called for not losing empathy or the sense of community:
“Now, more than ever, we have to remain united. A country can change its immigration policies, but the treatment of all people must always be human.”
