The best place for news and Latin culture coverage in Chicago.

Shakira brought his world tour of Chicago on Saturday night, with an exciting presentation as a billboard head at the Dream Music Festival.

And while the temperature descended drastically at nightfall at the Festival on the shores of the lake, fans who had just enjoyed the festival of the festival were more than anxious to stay for the 90 -minute show of the Colombian superstar.

“Wow, I’m in love with this city. It’s so beautiful,” Shakira told the public while watching the multitude of fans who had gathered for presentation. “Thank you for making me feel at home.”

Shakira brought heat to Grant Park with his opening songs, “La Fuente” and “Girl Like Me”. The singer, who first appeared on stage with a brilliant silver costume, took away one layer at the same time while making the transition between the first two songs, finally revealing a bright pink minidate.

With at least half a dozen more costume changes, backup dancers, video interludes and a huge scenario with the theme of a wolf towards the end of the set, the show was practically a complete concert instead of a brief festival set.

Saturday’s concert was part of the American stage of the world tour “Women no longer cry” by Shakira (which culminates in Peru this fall) after the worldwide success of her twelfth study album, entitled of the same name.

“Women do not cry” won a Grammy 2025 for the best Latin pop album, and the first six tour concerts in February generated the impressive record figure of $ 32.9 million in profits.

On Instagram, the singer wrote that she and her team “did everything possible to attend the iconic (dreams Music Festival).”

During the concert, Shakira sang songs in English and Spanish that covered the first years of his 30 -year -old career, including “Eyes like” and “Underneath Your Clothes”, even some of his most recent successes, such as “I congratulate you” with Rauw Alejandro. He also interpreted “Shakira: BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 53”, his famous collaboration with the Argentine producer and composer Bizarrap. After another costume change, Shakira took some time to chat with her fans.

“Maybe they would like to know which of my songs is the most requested?” Shakira asked to the public. From there, he performed a powerful “anthology” of his 1995 album, “bare feet.”

Shakira, 48, has been a vital part of the Latin music scene, and even more important, of pop mainstream, for a long time. Its ability to get to generations of listeners is one of the reasons why your music comes to stay.

“They already know that the last years have been quite difficult for me,” said the singer, referring to her divorce from former soccer player Gerard Piqué in 2022. “No one recovers from the falls. But if I have learned something, it is that the fall is not the end … it is because we, as women, we get up and do it because we are a little stronger, a little more wise.”

Shakira is undoubtedly in a new self -discovery and personal overcoming trip, as evidenced by futuristic symbolism throughout the performance. His first outfit, the brilliant monkey, made her look newly arrived from space.

There was even a brief segment in which Shakira put a welder mask and “built” his perfect man. She and her dancers also participated in robotic dances, perhaps reinforcing the idea of building a new version of itself.

However, there was still much of his characteristic Belly Dance, especially during the introduction of “eyes like this.” It is one of the songs that best shows the scope and roots of Shakira, from pop sounds to Latin rock chords and Arab influences, all in a single song. It is a celebration of its roots, without a doubt, since Shakira was born in Barranquilla, Colombia, from Lebanese and Colombian parents.

The belly dance continued throughout the show, especially when it was time to interpret “Hips Don’t Lie”, the most famous piece of the singer. (The original 2006 launch has the participation of Haitian rapper Wyclef Jean).

The night also reached biblical proportions, in the style of Shakira. On the left and right screens of the stage, a text detailed the story of Genesis’ book on the creation of Eva of Adam’s rib, but Shakira contradicted the narrative.

“The first man was born from a woman’s hips,” said the screen before the singer began a dance before formally starting the song. Dozens of fans, with their own scarves in the hip, joined the dance.

Like most billboard heads in Grant Park this season of festivals, Shakira’s performance closed with an abundant fireworks show after finishing with “Waka Waka”, “She Wolf” and his theme with Bizarrap.
