Colombian singer Shakira was forced to cancel her presentation at the Boston Fenway Park stadium last Thursday, May 29, just a few hours before going on stage. The decision, taken for security reasons, surprised thousands of fans who were already waiting for the start of the show.
The event was part of their world tour of women no longer cry World Tour and was also the inaugural concert of the Fenway Concert Series 2025 cycle. However, a routine inspection revealed structural problems in the scenography mounted for the presentation. According to producer Live Nation, elements were detected that did not meet the required security standards, which forced to cancel not only the Shakira show, but also the concert scheduled for the next day with the artists Jason Aldean and Brooks & Dunn.
“As a preventive measure and prioritizing public security, team and artists, the decision was made to cancel both events,” said a Live Nation statement. All ticket buyers will receive a complete refund, and the organizers apologized for the inconveniences.
The dismantling of the stage began on Friday, May 30. The mayor of Boston, Michelle Wu, confirmed that the cancellation was determined by the organizers of the event, not by the municipal authorities. “We understand that it was a decision based on structural precautions, and we support that security has been prioritized,” Wu said.
Although no specific technical details have been given about the detected failure, media such as The Mirror pointed out that in social networks a possible problem in the stage ceiling was rumored, a version that has not been officially confirmed.
