Stephen King says that right now there are only two mystery series that are worth it, and you can watch them streaming
With the tremendous offer of series that there is on the (increasingly) streaming platforms, it is really difficult to know what to watch when it’s time to immerse yourself in a new story. That’s why, that horror giants like Stephen King speak out about what is worth it It has a lot of weight. Who knows more about horror and mystery than the father of ‘It’, ‘The Store’, ‘The Shining’ or ‘Carrie’.
What the tireless creator of best-selling books tells us is that, currently, there are only two “mystery box” series that are really worth it. Only two series have deserved the honor of making Stephen King spend time watching them, and both can be seen streaming. One of them is on Max and the other is on Apple TV+.
Stephen King recommends: ‘FROM’ and ‘SILO’
‘FROM’ It is a quite interesting series and, on a personal note, I will say that Stephen King is absolutely right in the world (be careful, there are spoilers for the third season here). We are talking about a series that so far has three seasons and that, if its creators have told us the truth so far, will end with the last chapter of the fifth. It is a mystery and horror series (more the former than the latter) that takes place in a town and whose plot is as simple as it is complex.
The action takes place in a town located at some undetermined point in the center of the United States that you can enter, but from which you cannot leave. This is not a spoiler, they tell you in the first chapter. As if being trapped there wasn’t enough drama, at night there are human-shaped creatures that come out to walk around the town and if they catch you, you’re dead. That is the starting point of ‘FROM’, which has our beloved Harold Perrineau (‘Lost’) as one of its main protagonists and which you can see, from now on, in Max.
The second of Stephen Kink’s recommendations is ‘Silo’ (be careful, spoilers if you don’t know her). Here we are faced with dystopian science fiction (and a good handful of mysteries) that places humanity in an underground refuge in the future. A silo. At the forefront of the plot we have the always great Rebecca Ferguson (‘Mission: Impossible’, ‘Dune’) who plays Juliette, an engineer who discovers something that can turn not only the present of her community upside down, but also its origins.
Unlike ‘FROM’, ‘Silo’ doesn’t come out of nowhere. The series is based on the series of novels ‘Shilo Chronicles’ by Hugh Howey, so the scriptwriters have enough material to accurately capture the entire underground world created by the American author. Until now, ‘Silo’ has two seasons on Apple TV+, and everything indicates that it will end at the end of its third seasonalthough the possibility that a fourth exists is still up in the air.
Sign them up to see them. Stephen King makes few mistakes.
These are Stephen King’s two recommendations if you like mystery series. In fact, they are not even recommendations as such. The master of terror has highlighted that they are the only two mystery series he considered worth it of all those launched in 2024. Seasons launched, that is. So now you know, prepare a lot of popcorn and get ready for mysteries, scares and notebooks full of possible theories.
