Taylor Swift was summoned to declare in Justin Baldoni’s trial against Blake Lively: the reaction was explosive
The American singer -songwriter Taylor Swift has been officially dragged to the growing legal conflict between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, a dispute that began behind the scenes in the production of the film ‘It ends with us’, or ‘Break the circle’ and that has now exploded in courts and headlines.
According to TMZ reports, Baldoni’s lawyer Bryan Freedman has issued a legal citation (Subpoena) for Swift to testify as a witness in the case. The reason: they ensure that their participation in the project was beyond what has been publicly recognized.
But the singer’s team soon responded firmly. In a statement sent to TMZ, a Swift spokesman said:
“Taylor Swift never stepped on the set of this film, she was not involved in creative or casting decisions, she did not compose the music, she did not see any cut or made annotations, and she did not even see it ends with us until weeks after its public premiere.”
His only participation, they insist, was to allow the use of his song ‘My Tears Ricochet’ in the film, one of the 20 musical pieces that are part of the soundtrack. For your team, the citation has no other purpose than to use the artist’s name to generate headlines and clicks:
“This legal document is designed to use the name of Taylor Swift and create media morbidity, instead of focusing on the real facts of the case.”
However, another version is held on the Baldoni side. Sources cited by TMZ assure that Taylor approached the choice of Isabela Ferrer as the young version of the character of Lily Bloom, played by Blake Lively in the adult stage.
Another delicate point in the dispute revolves around a private meeting that took place in the Penthouse of Lively in New York. Baldoni states that there was a scene rewritten by the actress, but that the match became hostile. According to him, she felt ambushed: in addition to Blake, her husband Ryan Reynolds and, later, Taylor Swift were also present.
After that meeting, Blake sent a message to Baldoni in which “Khaleesi” (referring to the character of Game of Thrones), and described Taylor and Ryan as his “protective dragons.”
So far, Freedman has not responded to contact attempts by the media. But the truth is that the drama around this film – based on the successful novel by Colleen Hoover – has already become a media storm, with accusations, cryptic messages and now, a superstar of the pop trapped in the middle.
