Teacher had a child with a 13-year-old boy: scandal after arrest in New Jersey for complaint on Facebook
Laura R. Caron, a suspended 5th grade teacher at an elementary school in New Jersey, became pregnant after repeatedly sexually assaulting a 13-year-old student who moved into her home with her brother, according to local police.
The superintendent of the school district of Middle TownshipDavid Salvo, received an anonymous tip on Dec. 12 that a teacher, identified Wednesday as Caron, 34, may have sexually assaulted a student, according to a probable cause affidavit in the case.
Police arrested Caron at her home on Wednesday and charged her with aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a minor. She was held at the Cape May County Correctional Facility without bond pending her initial court appearance, according to court records cited by New YorkPost.
The police notice cited a message on Facebook posted by the victim’s father saying that Caron’s 5-year-old son looks like him and his son, according to the affidavit. Caron was a teacher at Middle Township Elementary School No. 2 in Cape May Court House before she was suspended once school district officials learned of the criminal investigation.
On January 5, the alleged victim told police that Caron sexually assaulted him about twice a week while he lived with her. The minor also allegedly told investigators that he is the father of her son born in 2019.
The unidentified alleged victim, who is now between 18 and 19 years old, told detectives that she continued to speak with Caron until her father’s Facebook post last month, according to the affidavit.
The teacher met her victim when she was 11 years old and she taught him and his brother in 5th grade. Both students and their family remained close to their former teacher and their parents allowed their three children – two boys and a girl – to sleep at Caron’s house. a couple of nights a week between 2016 and 2020according to reports.
“I want to personally assure the parents of Middle Township that we are taking every step possible to ensure the safety of our children. “Our department is working closely with the District Attorney’s Office to ensure that every aspect of this case is thoroughly investigated,” local police chief Tracey Super said in a statement. “When the school district was first informed of the criminal investigation, Laura Caron was suspended and removed from all contact with students as we took allegations of employee misconduct seriously,” the Middle School District said. Township. “Our school district is committed to continuing to work in the best interest of our children and providing an excellent education in a healthy, safe and secure environment.”
Caron was hired as a public employee in 2014 and at the time of her suspension was receiving an annual salary of $64,512, according to state pension records.
All charges are mere accusations and those charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
