Los Angeles (USA), Jun 12 (EFE) .- The 68th edition of the Grammy Awards, which will take place on February 1, 2026, incorporates two new categories to its awards, best country album and best contemporary country album, the recording academy announced Thursday.
The organization also said that the nominated artists will be announced on November 7 and that the project of eligibility of the projects will be from August 31, 2024 to August 30, 2025.
The Academy thus assured that the category of Best Country album will be duplicate, a measure that arrives after Beyoncé’s victory in the last edition of the Grammy, where he won the Best Country album award for ‘Cowboy Carter’, a record deeply influenced by genre, but also fuses elements of R&B and electronic music.
In addition, the musical institution added the category of best album cover and merged two existing awards, better recording packaging and better box in a limited box or special edition, in a single distinction that now bears the name of better recording packaging.
The eligibility criteria for a better new artist, one of the four most coveted sections, which now includes those who have participated in nominated for album of the year was also expanded, provided that their contribution does not exceed 20 % of the total reproduction time.
The first voting round will take place from October 3 to 15, while the final will take place from December 12 to January 5.
The 68th edition of the Grammy will be broadcast live on CBS Television Network and Paramount+ on February 1, 2026.
