Superfine: Tailoring Black Style It has been the topic chosen to shape the MET Gala 2025, the most anticipated appointment of the year in the fashion calendar. As every first Monday in May, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York has deployed its iconic red carpet on the great staircase to receive the most influential personalities of the moment. Under the clothing code Tailored for You (“To your measure”)a multitude of known faces have reinterpreted this ‘dress code’, which pays tribute to how tailoring has been used by the black community as a form of self -expression, resistance and identity statement from the 18th century to the present.
From Rihanna to Rosalia, through Georgina Rodríguez, The Kardashian sisters, Zendaya or Gigi Hadid, all have paraded with spectacular styles to pay tribute to black dandism and their influence on fashion and cultural identity throughout history. Legacy that goes far beyond aesthetics: it is a form of resistance, cultural affirmation, creativity and identity pride.
And how could it be otherwise, the coanfitations of this edition – to $ Ap Rocky, Pharrell Williams, Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton and Honor Co -President LeBron James – were up to the challenge.
