Hundreds of “Geek” and passionate about video game fans, fiction films or series paraded this Sunday in the Bolivian city of La Paz, to express their fascination with the characters that have influenced their lives.
The parade began in the traditional San Francisco square and toured the main avenue of the city with hundreds of participants who got into the skin of their favorite character, despite the rain.
And it is that the concentration brought together more than a dozen fans clubs that stood out, in several cases, to manufacture their costumes and characterizations themselves.
Franz Castillo, who dressed as the character of Star Wars Boba Fett, told Efe that he made his “blast” or ray gun with a 3D printer, and then manually assemble more than 50 pieces, while the rest of the suit made it with synthetic materials.
The block to which it belonged had 30 members, many of them simulated space battles with light sabers.
The “Geeks” personified spider -man with different costumes, from the versions of Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland cinema, to animated adaptations and cartoons.
Another group disguised itself as Loki, from the Avengers franchise, and proclaimed that this is “President” in Bolivia in the next national elections of August 17.
The little ones exhibited squared costumes such as those of the Minecraft movie and video game, while several teenagers grouped around their fondness for the Korean Pop BTS group. There were also those who represented Deadpool and Wolverine in allusion to the film that presented both characters.
A majority group adopted the anime style, with costumes that went from classic series such as Naruto, Dragon Ball and One Piece, to some more recent ones such as Demon Slayer or Attack On Titan.
Luiggi, a young man who participated dressed as a Jedi Knight, told Efe that many of the “geeks” or “geeks” have developed a passion towards a series or character with which they identify, which has come to positively influence their lives.
“People who are motivated not to stagnate that fanaticism towards issues such as physics and mathematics, that is, they believe. They take the message that they can move on and achieve objectives,” he said.
The “geek” world covers people interested in cultures such as China or Japanese. There are also medieval groups, which have created a combat league, in addition to the “Furry Culture”, focused on anthropomorphic animals content.
The “Geek Pride Day” is commemorated on May 25, alluding to the premiere of the first film of the Star Wars saga, in 1977.
