The president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, is preparing more than 100 decrees on border security, deportations and other political priorities that he intends to issue from his first day back in the White House.

The president-elect’s allies have been preparing a set of executive orders that Trump could quickly sign on a wide range of issues, from tightening the U.S. border with Mexico to energy development, federal workforce rules, policies school gender and vaccine mandates, among other promises made during his campaign.
Although executive actions are common on the first day of a new administration, as the new president puts his stamp on certain priorities, what Trump and his team are planning is an executive coup not seen in modern times as he prepares to take office. power in untested ways, bypassing the legislative machinery of Congress.

Senators who were briefed by Trump and his team during a lengthy session at the Capitol this week expect the new administration to reverse many of the executive orders of President Joe Biden’s administration while implementing its own proposals.
Immigration
Completing the wall on the southern border of the United States and establishing detention facilities to house migrants until they are expelled are part of the mix, some $100 billion in proposals, the senators said, money that the incoming Trump administration and the Republican-majority Congress are working to finance.
Senators expect Trump to return to many of the same border measures that were in place during his first term, including those that require migrants to apply for asylum in other countries or remain in Mexico while their claims are processed in the United States, as well as actions massive police forces to deport those who are currently in the United States illegally.
Sen. James Lankford, who led negotiations on border security and immigration during the last Congress, said he expects Trump’s team to initially focus on about 1 million migrants who he said recently entered the country, have been convicted for crimes or who are not eligible to remain in the country.
“That’s the low-hanging fruit,” Lankford said. “People who recently crossed, people who were legally there and committed crimes, people who have been ordered by the court to be removed, that’s well over 1 million people. Start working on that process.”

“On January 20, as one of my first executive orders, I will sign all the necessary documents to charge Mexico and Canada a 25% tariff on ALL products entering the United States and its ridiculous open borders,” he wrote at the end of November on his Truth Social network.
These neighboring countries are linked to the United States by a free trade agreement, so it is worth asking whether the threat is real or an attempt to exert pressure before starting negotiations.
