‘The Mystery of the Bielva Gate’, by Juan Francisco Quevedo, Monday 27, 7:00 p.m., Cantabrian Maritime Museum

The Cantabrian Maritime Museum hosts the book presentation ‘The Mystery of the Bielva Gate‘ of Juan Francisco Quevedo. The event will take place on Monday the 27th at 7:00 p.m. in the Augusto González Linares room of said institution. This proposal is included in the cultural program organized by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Sports that under the heading ‘Mondays to the museum‘aims to energize cultural activities.

Juan Francisco Quevedo, a graduate in Pharmacy and writer of several novels, essays and poems, has to his credit publications such as: ‘Ana in the month of July’ (2014), ‘Dear princess’ (2016), ‘El sedal del olvido’ (2017), ‘José Simón Cabarga’ (2018), and ‘A look at this our time’ (2021), among others

The Bielva Gate is a singular heritage asset that attracts the attention of museum visitors. This is a piece that is in the MMC collection for more than 40 yearsand which stands out for having one of the reliefs of a Europe’s best drawn 18th century sailing ship. Said ship, known as ‘El Montañés’, participated and survived the battle of Trafalgar, in the War of Independence. The investigation of said gate has also revealed another series of graffiti that confirms that said set of drawings are a witness to the War of Independence.

The research and the interest that it has aroused It reaches us in different forms and ways, allowing us to solve some of the enigmas it contained. The novel ‘The Mystery of the Door Bielva‘ is one of them.
