For almost a century, the legend of the Monster of Lake Ness, known as Nessie, has captured the imagination of thousands of people worldwide. However, an outstanding zoology expert, Professor Tim Coulson from the University of Oxford, has affirmed that Nessie’s existence is “biologically impossible.”

Coulson argues that the lack of bone remains and the absence of credible photographic tests are evidence that the monster never existed. Instead, the images that supposedly show Nessie could be explained by floating debris or birds with long necks, such as the cormorants. In addition, the expert ruled out the possibility that Nessie is a Plesiosaur, a marine reptile that was extinguished 66 million years ago, since recent fossils of this species have been found.

As for other legendary creatures, such as Bigfoot and Yeti, Coulson also dismissed the sightings, suggesting that they can be explained by known animals, such as black bears.

Despite his conclusions about mythical creatures, Coulson does not rule out the existence of extraterrestrial life. According to the professor, the universe is “absolutely vast”, which makes other ways of life in a distant corner of the cosmos. However, he also acknowledged that the search for extraterrestrial life presents great challenges, given the immensity of the space and current technological limitations.
