The Palau de la Generalitat will offer a very unique concert of international pop successes for free

The next Sunday, July 6at 12:00 h, the Palau de la Generalitat will open its doors for a Free Carillón concert which will surprise for your repertoire. Far from the classical compositions that are traditionally associated with this type of instrument, the program will include global successes of artists like Lady Gaga (“Bloody Mary”), Billie Eilish (“Bad Guy”), Coldplay (“Paradise”) o The Weeknd (“Binding Lights”), in addition to themes of Catalan bands such as Txarango, The Tyots and Oques Grasses. A unique opportunity to listen to current pop and folk melodies in the peculiar and enveloping sound of the bells of Palau.
The interpretation will be in charge of The carillonist of Palau since 1988, Anna Maria Revertéwhich will be served from the instrument installed in the building tower in 1976 and restored in 2015. 49 bells That there are almost five tons of bronze, the Carillón del Palau is one of the few instruments of this type in operation in Spain and is part of the country’s sound heritage. Its system allows a single interpreter to manually acade the keyboard, causing each note to resonate from the height of the historical building and be audible both from within and from the streets of the environment. The public can also enjoy the audition from the Pati Dels Tarongers, or in case of rain from the noble gallery.
The entrance is free and open to all types of audiencesbut the capacity is limited by the characteristics of the enclosure. Once the reservation has been confirmed, attendees can access the Palau a few minutes before the start of the recital to place themselves in the enabled spaces and comfortably listen to the live interpretation.

This concert is part of the “Concerts des from the Palau” Cycle for the 2024-2025 season, an initiative that seeks to bring the music of the Carillón closer to the citizens and offer varied programs that combine different musical genres. On June 1, one that came out of the traditional canon was already scheduled: Disney films sound bands.
