The Rioja Museum invites you to participate in a night detective game

The Rioja Museum presents an innovative cultural activity called The mystery of Torremuña. Aimed at the youngest public, from 12 years, this theatrical detective game invites us to immerse ourselves at night in the museum and travel its facilities to solve the mystery in the purest clue style.

History, art and mystery combine in this creative proposal that the actors and actresses of Sapo Producciones will be responsible for driving.

The General Director of Culture, Roberto Iturriaga, and the director of the Rioja Museum, Rocío Coletes, have presented the details of this initiative with which the Government of La Rioja wants to continue opening the doors of this museum to new audiences, ”he prominent Iturriaga. An exciting game with which, as the Museum’s director has pointed out, “we intend to offer the opportunity to visit the Night Museum, without noise, without more visitors, in an unmatched aesthetic experience that also has a character of heritage education.”

The plot of the game is based on a real event that occurred in 1971, when three Gothic-Flamence Tables of the fifteenth century were stolen from the main altarpiece of the Church of Torremuña. After this plunder, the altarpiece was transferred to the Provincial Museum for its protection and conservation. Decades later, and here the game begins: the Rioja Museum is about to inaugurate a room dedicated to these works recovered when, unexpectedly, a corpse appears. From this event, the participants, turned into detectives, must investigate and resolve the enigma surrounding this possible crime.

A playful and educational experience, which also promotes reflection on the importance of conservation of cultural heritage and regional history. By immersing themselves in this mystery game, its participants will have the opportunity to learn more about the museum’s collections and the historical events that have marked the identity of La Rioja.

Sessions and entries

The mystery of Torremuña It will take place for nine Saturdays scheduled between February and June at 8:00 p.m. The planned dates are: February 15; March 8 and 22; April 5 and 26; May 10 and 31; and June 14 and 21. Each session lasts approximately 90 minutes and a capacity limited to 20 participants, who will organize in four groups to carry out the investigation.

The activity is aimed at age 12. Those who are between 12 and 15, including, must be accompanied by a responsible adult. 16 years and older they can participate without adult company.

Tickets, with a price of 6 euros per person, are available through the entradium platform. From February 10, those corresponding to the February, March and April sessions can be acquired, while as of March 10, May and June will be on sale.

It is advisable to attend with comfortable clothes and footwear. In addition, it is suggested that at least one of the members of each group has a mobile device with Internet connection, since a messaging application will be used during the activity.
