Accommodation searches have increased more than 200 % in several cities hosting concerts, being Charlotte (North Carolina), Arlington (Texas) and Detroit (Michigan) which record the greatest increases, the company explained in a statement.
The enthusiasm for the tour has been so great that some of the concerts originally scheduled in Arenas have been transferred to stadiums, which has resulted in a significant economic impulse for host destinations.
Other cities such as Los Angeles and San Antonio have also experienced a strong increase in the demand for accommodation, according to the Airbnb report, which underlines an economic impact beyond lodging.
In 2023, musical events generated more than 100 million dollars in revenues for platform hosts worldwide.
During concert days, host profits in key cities increased on average 38 % compared to the previous year. To this is added an average daily expenditure of $ 205 by visitors in local restaurants, stores and attractions, of which about 40 % are done in the neighborhoods where they are housed.
One of the peculiarities of this Colombian tour is the remarkable female participation. More than 60 % of the reserves in key cities have been made by women. In some of these, such as San Antonio, Miami, San Diego, Houston and Las Vegas, the proportion of women exceed 65 %, which suggests that Shakira’s tour is also being an event of collective empowerment and celebration.
The tour will travel the east coast from May 13 to June 7, will continue through Texas from June 11 to 15 and will end on the west coast on June 30 in San Francisco.
