Shakira fans in the Washington DC area apparently were dressed and upset after the cancellation of the concert scheduled for Saturday at Nats Park, confirmed the Washington Nationals.
“Due to complications with the previous concert in Boston, the complete production of the Shakira tour could not be transported to Washington DC in time for its program programmed at the Nationals Park on Saturday, May 31. As a result, the DC concert has been canceled,” the team said in a statement.
The Nationals also indicated that they will reimburse the money from the tickets.
“In spite of all efforts to be made, it is not possible to move on as planned. Refunds will be automatically issued for purchases in Ticketmaster and Nationals.com; no additional action is required,” they said.
“For tickets bought through external distributors (Stubhub, Seatgeek, Vivid Seats, etc.), fans can directly contact their purchase point,” the equipment added.
Shakira, the sensation of Colombian pop of the early 2000s, planned to appear in Washington DC as part of their world tour “Women no longer cry.”
The performance in the Nationals Park also served as a welcome concert for the Worldpride DC, with Shakira as a sign.
His Thursday concert at the Boston Fenway Park was also canceled hours before his start. The reason for the cancellation was not immediately clarified, or if it was the same reason why the event was canceled in Washington DC.
The Washington Blade reported that the concert in Boston was canceled “due to problems with stage safety.” Our sister News4 chain has not yet confirmed this information.
For his part, Shakira expressed his sadness in the face of cancellation through a statement:
“Due to circumstances outside my will, it saddens me and it hurts not to be with you tomorrow at Washington DC. I hope to return to Washington DC as soon as I can. Meanwhile, they know that I am eternally grateful for your unconditional support,” he concluded.
