General Aldo Juan Ávila, from the Directorate against Trafficking in Persons and Illicit Traffic of Migrants, explained that the operation was aimed at “dismantling the remnants of the criminal organization of Aragua’s train in several districts of Lima.”
The American ambassador to Peru, Stephanie Syptak-Ramnath, highlighted in the statement that transnational criminal organizations «They have no place in the strong, safe and prosperous region that we are building with our partners ».
He stressed that “the success of this operation is a testimony of the great work that we can achieve together to improve the security of our citizens and our shared region.”
The embassy also stressed that the United States National Security Department prioritizes collaboration with its partners in the application of the law «to fight the growing threats to public safety that represent transnational criminal organizations ».
