The discovery was made on a path near Everett Avenue, approximately 0.5 kilometers from the residence. The finding was reported by a passer -by who spotted what appeared to be a human bone, later identified as one leg.
The Local Police Department immediately went to the site and transferred the remains to the Rhode Island Forensic Doctor’s office for analysis and identification. So far, the identity of the victim has not been revealed or if there are more remains in the area. Police keep the area cordoned off while investigations continue.
This fact adds to a series of similar findings in New England since March of this year. According to local and international media reports, there are already at least 13 human bodies or remains found in states such as Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. This chain of discoveries has generated alarm among residents and has aroused social networks speculation about the possible existence of a serial killer.
However, the authorities have been cautious about it. Although they recognize public restlessness, they have stressed that, for the moment, there are no concrete evidence that connects these cases with each other. Police have asked citizens to avoid hasty conclusions while progressing in forensic and criminal investigations.
