They recover Jesuit missions with Minecraft – last minute

“The main objective of the competition is to arouse interest in children and young people in the patrimonies of the country and generate a tourist culture through educational technological tools and travel experiences,” said Ing. Juan Pintos Sumi, project coordinator of the National Secretariat of Tourism (Senatur), which together with the Arch. School, drive the project.
The proposal, according to Pintos, is based on active methodologies and digital resources that seek an experiential connection with heritage from action and creativity.
One of the great innovations of the project is the use of Minecraft Education, a platform that allows students to design and rebuild historical places in an immersive digital environment.
“Minecraft Education was chosen for being a recognized platform within the Steam model, which stimulates creativity, critical thinking and collaborative learning.”
So far, more than 500 teams of students registered, in individual or group modalities, with the participation of more than eight departments, including Central, Villa Hayes, Paraguarí, Caaguazú, Cordillera, Itapúa, Alto Paraná and Concepción.
Among the expected learning include knowledge of the legacy of the Jesuit missions, the significant use of digital tools, teamwork, the ability to represent heritage with creativity and an understanding of heritage as a source of identity, tourism and sustainable development.
“The value of learning traveling and loving the country knowing it is key in this proposal,” said Pintos.
The competition aims to strengthen the sense of cultural belonging among the participants. “The active methodology transforms knowledge into emotion, and history in motion, promoting a more personal and proud vision of cultural roots,” he said.
To ensure the maximum use of experience, both students and teachers participate in a three -month training process, address issues such as cultural heritage, digital design, educational tourism and Minecraft Education.
The competition coordinator said that long -term vision contemplates the expansion of the model to other cultural and natural heritage of the country.
He stressed that “training digital guardians of heritage is a strategic commitment to Paraguay” because not only preserves historical memory, but also empowers new generations as protagonists of educational and cultural change.
