The mystery of a woman who disappeared without a trace was solved thanks to an image from Google Maps.

Google Maps’ Street View feature has captured some pretty strange images, and has even helped solve murder mysteries and unmask unfaithful couples.

More recently, an image captured by a Google Street View vehicle in Belgium helped solve the mystery of the disappearance of a woman with Alzheimer’s.

Belgian Paulette Landrieux disappeared on November 2, 2020 after being last seen by her husband and her caregiver at their home in the municipality of Andenne.

A search team – including drones, police helicopters and sniffer dogs – launched to find her, but their efforts were unsuccessful. His relatives believed he could have fallen into the Meuse River, near his home.

Sadly, Landrieux’s body was recovered two years later a few meters from his home. But she was only found thanks to the strange coincidence of a Google Street View car passing by at the exact moment she disappeared.

It was the first time the Google car had visited their street, Rue Reppe, in 11 years. In the images captured by the 360-degree camera, Landrieux is seen walking down some steps towards her neighbor’s garden while her husband was busy hanging the laundry, according to reports. The Mirror.

The images were found when an amateur detective was trying to trace his possible trajectory. In them, the 83-year-old woman could be seen crossing the street dressed in a white sweater and black pants. He was walking towards a neighbor’s garden.

Upon discovering the images, the police resumed the search and unfortunately found Landrieux’s remains at the foot of a hill, just below the garden of the property in front of his house. Authorities concluded that he must have fallen and died tragically.
