They threaten the lawyer who asked to investigate Matías Lacava in the US.

Lawyer John De La Vega reported this Friday that he had received threats after requesting an investigation in the United States into Matías Lacava, son of Rafael Lacava, a governor linked to Chavismo. According to De La Vega, the threats would come from groups related to the ruling party.

Through his Instagram account, De La Vega reported: “Today we woke up to the news that groups linked to Chavismo that operate in Florida have left threatening signs on our property.” In the shared images, posters were seen with phrases such as “What is with one, is with all. “Bolivarian Fury.”

The lawyer assured that the United States “has zero tolerance for political persecution” and declared: “This hate crime will not be tolerated. “We are already in contact with Miami-Dade police, the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to identify those responsible for these acts of hate.”

De La Vega, who is also a veteran after serving in the US Army during the Iraq War, asked his followers to share any information related to those responsible, showing a video on his social network where unidentified subjects can be seen.

On the other hand, Venezuelan lawyers in the US asked Senator Marco Rubio, the next head of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in Donald Trump’s administration, to investigate Matías Lacava, who would participate in a friendly soccer match between Venezuela and the USA scheduled for January 18 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

De La Vega expressed concern regarding Lacava’s presence, noting: “Allowing the entry of people with direct links to oppressive regimes represents a lack of respect for the sacrifices and struggles of our community.”

In addition, he argued in a letter that Rafael Lacava, the soccer player’s father, is a close collaborator of Nicolás Maduro, accused of “serious human rights violations, political oppression and economic devastation in Venezuela.”
