The first flight crew of Blue Origincomposed entirely of women, took off Monday in a Trip 100 kilometers on the earth’s surface to the karm linethe internationally recognized space limit. The NS-31 mission marks the eleventh manned flight of the New Shepard program by Jeff Bezos.

The members of the Blue Origin crew, the “CBS Mornings” co -presenter, Gayle King, the pop superstar Katy Perry, the journalist and philanthont Lauren Sánchez, the film producer Kerianne Flynn, the NASA Excientific of the NASA Aisha Bowe and the civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, will travel to space. Bowe is the first Bahameña and Nguyen the first Vietnamese woman and Southeast Asia in traveling to space.

They join a small group of 52 passengers who have already participated in the New Shepard program and that have made the brief trip to space. This is the first crew composed exclusively of women to take off in almost six decades, after the solo spatial flight of the Soviet cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova, Blue Origin reported.

The Blue Origin flight crew, composed exclusively of women, took off promptly this Monday, April 14 around 9:30 am et. There were shouts of astonishment inside the capsule when the rocket took off and headed towards the karm line.

At the peak of the mission, the passengers were in microgravity, which means they experienced anxiety. The belts were unraveled and floated in the capsule for about four minutes before returning to their seats.

The propeller rocket returned to the Earth, landing vertically about three kilometers from the launch platform, while the capsule landed successfully.
