‘Thunderbolts*’ and ‘A Minecraft movie’ continue to lead the Spanish box office on their worst weekend of the year

The distributors smelled it and did not scheduled great premieres for the weekend from May 9 to 11, where the assistance to the cinemas was expected to decrease considerably after the bridge and with the (relative) arrival of the good climate. Finally, the figures confirm what was feared: The worst weekend of what is going for a year for our rooms, and the second worst May data since 2021.
The estimated total of the top 20 between Friday and Sunday It sinks below three million euros, 2.93 million to be exactand approximately 400,000 spectators, according to provisional Comscore data. This represents a fall of more than 33% compared to the previous weekend, and a similar percentage of decline compared to the same weekend in 2024. A good blow, even if it saw coming.
In this foolish Panorama, Marvel again leads the box office with ‘Thunderbolts*’, which raises estimates 864,000 euros in its second week. Despite staying far from the best results of the study, the latest film of the Marvel film universe is benefiting by good mouth to mouth (and the absence of competition until they arrive ‘Mission Impossible: Final Judgment’ and ‘Lilo and Stitch’) and descends 37%, below the average marvel falls and superheroes in general. Its total accumulated in Spain amounts to almost 3.8 million euros in two weeks.
And little movement in the rest of the list, which repeats exactly the same Top 5 as last weekend. The veteran ‘A Minecraft’ film endures in 2 and adds another 333,000 euros, which helps to reach 15 million total collection so far. In the 3 a Spanish comedy is located that is exhibiting an excellent staff, ‘El Casoplón’, which after increasing its collection last week, raises another 246,000 euros and accumulates 2.72 million after almost a month on the poster.

The Top 5 Complete the horror movie based on the famous video game ‘Until Dawn’, with estimated 237,000 euros and a total that already brushes the million and a half in his third week; and ‘The 2’ accountant, which adds 171,000 euros and accumulates 1.17 million also in its third week.
In the one, it could be defined as the surprise of the week, the best premiere is taken by the Spanish ‘A fifth Portuguese’, distributed by Filmax on 100 screens, debuting in the 8 with an estimate of € 115,000 and the second best average per room. On the contrary, ‘enemies’ is left out of Top 10 despite being present in many more rooms (268) and you have to settle for € 86,000 and an average per room of only € 337. Finally, we must highlight once again ‘Conclave’, which benefited by the royal conclave and the choice of the new Pope, Leo XIV, a step scalefrom 8 to 7.
Billboard to the destination
On Friday, May 16, 16 new premieres arrive on the billboard. As we said, waiting for ‘Mission Impossible: Final Judgment’ and ‘Lilo and Stitch’, which promise to give a needy impulse to the box office, the thing will remain relatively quiet.
Of course, among the calm comes a new premiere of Warner Bros. which is the only one capable of disrupting the top 5: ‘Final destination: blood ties’, the return of The iconic horror saga started in 2000, which returns more than a decade after the previous installmentwith renewed and new forces and twisted ways of killing their victims. Will the throne take to ‘Thunderbolts*’? The Swedish epic ‘Stockholm 1520. The tyrant king’ and a handful of Spanish titles are also released: ‘After summer’, ‘The instinct’ or ‘what remains of you’, among others.
