Trump discusses in public with the mayor of Los Angeles for her management of forest fires

During his visit to California to travel the areas affected by forest fires that left a few days ago to thousands of people, the president Donald Trump rebuked Karen Bass, mayor of Los Angeles, for his plan to deal with the disaster caused by fire and the slow advance in tasks to try to make affected citizens initiate the reconstruction of their homes.

The fire started on January 7 in forested areas near Pacific Palisades and then in Eaton was displaced in the presence of the so -called Santa Ana winds until it burns more than 50,000 acres in less than two weeks.

In the counting of the damage, more than 12,000 structures were destroyed by the flames and the disaster is already considered one of the worst in the history of the nation.

However, under the optics of President Trump, the authorities in California lack of turning off the fire before its magnitude made it virtually impossible to lack enough water to achieve it.

During an informative meeting, which was attended by the mayor of Los Angeles, local legislators, officials and even residents affected, The 78 -year -old Republican asked Karen Bass to explain why it is talk that the reconstruction of the calcined areas would have been 18 months.

“That will not be so. They know that we first have to make sure that (we are) getting rid of hazardous waste, cleaning things so that people can start immediately … I want them to know we are accelerating that. We absolutely need your help, federal aid, ”said the Democratic official.

In response, Trump practically ordered him to accelerate the process so that the owners of affected housing can access what remained of them shortly.

“You mentioned hazardous waste, what are hazardous waste? They will have to define that. We will go through a whole series of questions to determine what are hazardous waste. I think they have to allow people to go to their place and begin the process tonight“He said.

Karen Bass argued that the debris was required to make the area a safe site, which would take at least a week.

“People are willing to clean their own debris. It doesn’t cost much. They have to let them do it, because by the time contractors are hired, two years will have passed. People are willing to get a container and do them themselves.

I will be sincere … Everyone is standing in front of their home, wants to go to work and it is not allowed to do it … A week is really a long time, just as I see it“He emphasized.
